Excelsior Youth Center is a nonprofit, private agency, located in north Spokane, Washington. For over 30 years they have provided comprehensive behavioral health services to youth and their families through several programs, both inpatient and outpatient. In an effort to serve the whole person, not just a presenting problem, Excelsior provides a holistic approach, offers co-occurring treatment, and specialized services to all individuals. Excelsior Youth Center maintains a 55,000 square foot facility and a thirty-four acre site with several outdoor courtyards, sports fields, gardens, recreation courts, swimming pool, gymnasium, hiking trails and more. Excelsior serves a diverse group of adolescents with a range of presenting difficulties, which compromise their abilities to live happy, healthy lives. One unifying factor in a majority of our clients' lives is the experience of some form of trauma during critical developmental periods. Examples of trauma may include physical and sexual abuse, prenatal exposure to harmful toxins, witnessing domestic or gang related violence, loss of a loved one, among others.
