Tuerk House's residential treatment program is cognitively based and derives from the philosophy that clients deserve the right to make their own decisions regarding their recovery. Residents are encouraged to examine their competing motivations and to evaluate if and how they wish to proceed in their treatment. Tuerk House employs Motivational Interviewing, social skill development, and vocational training as its main interventions to help our recoverees. Tuerk House's core interventions help develop the lifestyle each individual chooses to maintain his or her recovery.

Each day starts at 8:30 a.m. with a lecture that serves as the focus for treatment that day. The remainder of the day is devoted to small group therapy, case management, social skill development, social learning, individual sessions and self-help meetings. The treatment day concludes at 9:30 p.m.

During each treatment day residents have snacks, smoke breaks, leisure time, medication call and and group meals. There is almost always a waiting list for a bed at the Tuerk House. The outpatient clinic has long supported clients waiting to come into Tuerk House's residential program by providing supportive group counseling while clients are awaiting entry.

Tuerk House welcomes people suffering from a broad array of substance abuse problems regardless of their ability to pay. Each person requesting treatment must bring a picture ID and Social Security Card.
